As a guest of Egypt you should respect the conventions of the inhabitants. We would like to advice you on how to behave, so as to have a better relation with the people.

To be dressed adequately:

• Women should cover their shoulders and arms (that protects against annoyances); To avoid disturbance and bad comments please do not over minimizing the way you put on your bathing suits.

 To respect religious behavior:

• Tolerate religious usages and accept them without discussions!!!                       

(e.g. if you like to visit a mosque take off your shoes)

Separation of gender:  

• In the Egyptian society man and woman are sometimes strictly                               separated from each other – in private and also in public

(e.g. in a post office it's possible to find two lines, one for males and  another for females)

About food

The Egyptian cuisine is affected by Turkish-Arabic tradition. We would like to give you some explanations that makes it easier for you to choose between the menu choices.

             - Hummus Bi Tahina: cold chickpeas puree with Tahina

             - Mussaka: meal with eggplant, tomatoes, onion

             - Machschi Koossa: zucchini filled with spicy rice

             - Filafil: vegetable meatball

             - Feta: meal which is served in a bowl; the bottom is made                 up of pita,above is rice and meat

             - Kushari: meal with spaghetti, rice and lenses, above are                   toasted onions and tomato sauce

             - Haman Mashi: steamed pigeon

              - Mashi Wara Ainab: vine leaf filled with spicy rice
